Well, that escalated quickly.
Oh god, it's ckeditor.
I hate wysiwyg html editors. None of them ever have fucking worked or ever will fucking work.
I want the old mefi editor back. If I can't have exactly that, I want some editor that will let me see the actual html tags I'm about to put my name to.
At the very least, can we turn off the toolbar buttons that aren't supposed to work? That's three minutes tracking down the canonical pissing elephant image that I'll never get back.
It would be really nice if we could select text from someone's comment and then get a right-click option to quote that selected text. It would then be extraordinarily nice if that quote, before being inserted in the comment editor, were surrounded with either <q>an inline quote tag</q>, or <blockquote>a blockquote for quotes that contain a line break or too many characters overall</blockquote>.
Unfortunately, there's no good way to simply add to a browser's right-click menu; one can either leave it alone or replace it completely. Sad!
